West Virginia LB Jared Bartlett to Enter Transfer Portal
One of the most experienced defenders in the Big 12 has decided to test the waters of the transfer portal as West Virginia linebacker Jared Bartlett announced his intentions to do so on Friday.
Bartlett has spent the past five seasons in Morgantown — the same amount of time that Neal Brown has been at the helm there — and has seen more than his fair share of action in that time.
Over the course of 50 career games, Bartlett wracked up 134 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, two passes defended, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
A three-star prospect out of Suwanee, Georgia, Bartlett was member of the Mountaineers 2019 recruiting class and will have one year of eligibility remaining wherever he should end up.
In a fairwell post to Mountaineer Nation, Bartlett expressed his love and appreciation for his home over the last half-decade.
After West Virginia’ 30-10 win over North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, Bartlett hinted that it was his final game with WVU.
“Proud of this team, glad to ball out with my guys one last time. Let’s go Mountaineers,” he wrote on Twitter.
Now, the graduate transfer will look for a home for one more season before entering the next phase of his life, whether that be an NFL career or something else outside of football.
