Will Howard to Ohio State Speculation Grows After Cotton Bowl

NCAA Football: Texas Christian at Kansas State

The 2023 Cotton Bowl was definitely a game that happened.

While the matchup between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Missouri Tigers may have been one of the sloppiest games of the college football season, former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard emerged victorious from the game with his name trending on social media after a lackluster performance from the Ohio State quarterback room.

After former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord elected to enter his name into the transfer portal, Ryan Day and the Buckeyes turned to sophomore Devin Brown to make his first career start against the Missouri Tigers in the Cotton Bowl.

Brown struggled to move the football against the Tigers and eventually left the contest with an injury. With the uncertain future of Ohio State’s quarterback room, rumors surrounding a potential pairing between Will Howard and Ryan Day have continued to spiral.

According to a recent report from Eleven Warriors, Ohio State has been in deep contact with former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard as Howard considers the next stopping point in his college football career.

Ohio State also gave true freshman Lincoln Kienholz a shot in the game against Missouri but after the team failed to find the end zone in the Cotton Bowl, the writing appears to be on the wall about Ohio State’s interest in Howard.

Howard has generated interest from multiple top-tier programs around the country including the likes of USC, Penn State, and Ohio State. While the former Wildcat continues to generate interest from programs in need of a veteran signal caller, the three listed above appear to be the front runners at this moment in time.
