Houston OT Jaylen Garth Enters Transfer Portal
With transfer portal season officially upon us, college football fans are beginning to witness big names from their favorite teams announce their decision to enter the portal.
Houston offensive tackle Jaylen Garth became the latest player to transfer after announcing his decision on Friday to leave Houston and officially enter his name into the transfer portal.
Garth was a big part of Dana Holgorsen’s offensive line in 2023 after seeing action in seven games for the Cougars. The decision to enter the portal marks Garth’s second trip to the portal after he elected to transfer from Texas to Houston following his freshman season.
Coming out of high school, Garth was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 215th-ranked prospect. He was also listed as the 15th-ranked player at his position and the 33rd-ranked player in the state of Texas.
Houston will now have a new spot to fill ahead of the 2024 season but with this offseason shaping up to include one of the busiest portal cycles in college football history, new head coach Willie Fritz should have some options available for replacement.
