Three Big 12 Prop Bets to Watch in the Sugar Bowl, Texas vs. Washington
There are two things in life that everyone loves, watching college football and making money. In today’s story, I’m going to try to help you accomplish both.
As the Texas Longhorns get set to take on the Washington Huskies in the 2023 Sugar Bowl, we here at Heartland College Sports want to provide you with three prop bets to keep your eyes on as well as a superstar staff parlay.
QUINN EWERS OVER 288.5 PASS YARDS
While not all sports bets have to feature good units facing off against bad units, this is the case in the Sugar Bowl. Despite being a top-tier college football playoff team in 2023, Washington’s defense is the worst of any team in the CFP.
Washington is eighth in the Pac-12 in total yards allowed (396.9), eighth in passing yards allowed (263.2), and eighth in rushing yards allowed (133.8). The unit appears to be more of a “bend don’t break” style defense rather than a team that’s going to win you a football game in close moments.
I expect Quinn Ewers to not only be the player of the game, but the best quarterback on the field in a game that features a Heisman semi-finalist. Ewers has hit the over on passing yards in seven of the last ten games, multiple of which he was pulled early after blowing out the other team.
Don’t overthink it folks, Quinn Ewers over is a lock.
JORDAN WHITTINGTON OVER 37.5 REC YARDS
While I know that the Longhorns’ top two pass catchers are Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell, I have been really impressed with what I’ve seen out of Jordan Whittington lately. Whittington finished off the 2023 season with 38 grabs for 435 yards and a score, which may not seem like the easy pick to take the over, but after recording eight catches in the last two games, I like the over here.
Whittington should have a solid role in the passing attack as Washington will likely try to eliminate Worthy, and help out on Mitchell. While I don’t expect that to work out very well for the Huskies, Whittington should see four or five catches and hit the over of 37.5.
JA’TAVION SANDERS ANYTIME TD
Sanders makes sense to score against Washington. While Sanders only found the endzone twice during the season, his numbers have really started to improve as of late.
The Texas native is fresh off of his biggest game of the season in the Big 12 Championship Game against Oklahoma State where he totaled eight grabs for 105 yards and a score.
While I expect a number of Longhorns to find the end zone on Monday, with Sanders listed at +160 for an anytime score, the play makes a lot of sense.
