While UCF fans have experienced loads of good news over the past few days, according to a Tuesday report from UCF Sports’ Brandon Helwig, the good news could be winding down for the Knights faithful.

Despite announcing his return to UCF ahead of the 2023 Gasparilla Bowl, UCF wide receiver Javon Baker is reportedly still contemplating his decision to return to Orlando.

Helwig reports that, “Baker made his announcement just prior to the Gasparilla Bowl but is still contemplating declaring for the NFL Draft, per a source.”

Getting Baker back in 2023 would be massive for the Knights as they have already returned the likes of senior running back RJ Harvey and senior wideout Kobe Hudson. In 2023, Javon Baker totaled 43 grabs for 966 yards and six scores while averaging 22.5 yards per catch.

While Baker initially released his plans to return on December 22nd, his options are now reportedly surround a trip to the NFL Draft, or one final season with Gus Malzahn.

Baker finished second in the Big 12 Conference in total receiving yards trailing only Texas’ Xavier Worthy by three yards. Baker crossed the 100-yard mark four times in 2023 with his biggest performance coming against No. 6 Oklahoma in Week 7 where he totaled five grabs for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
