UCF Lands Cincinnati Transfer LB Deshawn Pace
One of Cincinnati’s most versatile defenders will remain in the Big 12, but it won’t be where Bearcat fans had hoped.
Deshawn Pace was a key starter for UC over the last several seasons, but he’ll be prowling the field for the UCF Knights in 2024.
During Pace’s sophomore year in 2021, Cincinnati advanced to the College Football Playoff, with Pace playing a major part in their success, finishing third on the team and sixth in the AAC with 94 tackles to go along with a team-high four interceptions.
Pace has followed that season up with 142 combined tackles over the last two seasons, including leading the Bearcats with 80 stops this past season.
Despite the Knights and Bearcats being rivals dating back to their time together in the AAC, this is the third player to transfer from Cincinnati to UCF in this cycle, joining running back Myles Montgomery and fellow safety Bryon Threats.
UCF has had almost nothing but good news over the last couple of weeks, learning that Kobe Hudson and RJ Harvey are both set to return while Arkansas transfer quarterback KJ Jefferson also chose to play for the Knights in 2024. After a 6-7 campaign in 2023, it appears that next season could be one of resurgence for Gus Malzahn’s squad.
