Utah Starting CB JaTravis Broughton Removes Name From Transfer Portal One Day After Entering It

NCAA Football: Utah Spring Game

Utah multi-year starting cornerback JaTravis Broughton has removed his name from the transfer portal just one day after entering it, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

This is good news for a Utah program moving to the Big 12 in 2024 as Broughton has been a four-year starter for Kyle Whittingham‘s team.

Broughton was a reliable part of the defense in 2023 totaling 37 tackles and two pass breakups. Throughout his five-year career in Salt Lake City, Broughton totaled 126 tackles, nine pass breakups, one sack, and one interception.

Coming out of high school Broughton was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 837th-ranked prospect. He was also listed as the 74th-ranked linebacker in his class and the 10th-ranked player in the state of Oklahoma.

In 2023, Utah’s defense ranked second in the Pac-12 in yards allowed per game (308.6), trailing only the UCLA Bruins.
