Former Texas Tech LB Jesiah Pierre Transfers to UCF

While Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders lost a key player on the defensive side of the ball with senior linebacker Jesiah Pierre entering the transfer portal, UCF capitalized on the loss and swiftly brought Pierre back home to the Sunshine State.

Pierre announced his decision to transfer to UCF on social media Friday afternoon in a post that reads, “I’m back home!! Let’s get to work Knights nation!!”

Pierre was a big part of Joey McGuire’s defense in 2023 totaling 66 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery. Pierre started his career off at Florida before transferring to Texas Tech in 2021. In four seasons of college football, Pierre recorded 141 tackles, five sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup.

Coming out of high school, Pierre was listed as a three-star prospect by the On3 Industry Ranking and checked in as the nation’s 670th-ranked prospect. He was also listed as the 83rd-ranked linebacker in his class and the 85th-ranked player in the state of Florida.

Pierre becomes the Knights’ eighth addition in the transfer portal this offseason joining KJ Jefferson, Byron Threats, Deshawn Pace, and more. UCF finished ninth in the league in their first season in the Big 12 Conference, and after some solid additions through the transfer portal, Gus Malzahn’s squad could slip into the dark-horse conversation as a title contender.
