Oklahoma State Lands Ohio Transfer TE Tyler Foster
After adding Josiah Johnson via the transfer portal in the 2023 cycle, Oklahoma State is going back to the well in hopes of landing another contributor to fill the void left by Johnson, who exhausted his eligibility this year.
Johnson played in all 14 games for the Cowboys this season and served a pivotal role as a blocker and a pass catcher when given the opportunity, and now the Pokes will need to replace him.
They hope to have done so on Thursday night after adding Tyler Foster, a 6-foot-7, 250-pound transfer tight end from Ohio with one year of eligibility remaining.
Foster announced his commitment to the Cowboys on Twitter Thursday evening and brings plenty of experience with him to Stillwater, playing in 38 games for the Bobcats over the last four seasons.
Foster didn’t record his first reception until the 2022 season, but has 33 receptions for 396 yards and four touchdowns over the past two years, including the game-winning touchdown in Ohio’s victory in the 2022 Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl.
Foster is Oklahoma State’s third addition out of the transfer portal this cycle, joining UTEP safety Kobe Hylton and Arizona State offensive lineman Isaia Glass. He’ll join a tight-end room that features Quinton Stewart, Tabry Shettron, and Bryce Drummond.
The Pokes are coming off a 10-4 season which was capped by a 31-23 win over Texas A&M in the TaxAct Texas Bowl. Now, with several key players returning, including Alan Bowman, Ollie Gordon, and Collin Oliver, Oklahoma State looks to be a legit contender for the Big 12 title in 2024.
