Quinn Ewers Leads 2024 Way-Too-Early Heisman Trophy Odds
While the 2024 college football season is the better part of eight months away, it is never too early to wonder who will be taking home the Heisman Trophy.
In a recent update from FanDuel Sportsbook, ten players are currently receiving odds better than +1800, three of which will be former members of the Big 12 Conference.
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is the co-favorite on the list and is joined by Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe and Georgia quarterback Carson Beck with +750 odds each.
247Sports’ Brad Crawford spoke on Ewers’ chances saying, “Quinn Ewers reportedly leans toward a return to the Longhorns rather than jump for the 2024 NFL Draft, which gives Texas two difference makers at the position along with fellow former five-star Arch Manning. This was Ewers’ best season as a collegian after throwing for 3,479 yards and 22 touchdowns. Ewers is the first of several signal callers in the expanded SEC who will be a forward-facing superstar of the sport if he returns. His 452-yard, four-touchdown effort in the Big 12 Championship Game was a career best.”
Following Ewers and Milroe on the list are Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel (+1000), Tennessee’s Nico Iamaleava (+1800), and Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy (+1800).
Dillon Gabriel solidified himself in the top 10 for Heisman odds after transferring to Oregon on December 9th. Gabriel’s departure from Oklahoma cleared another oath for a player in the top 10 with rising quarterback Jackson Arnold listed with +1800 odds.
“Jackson Arnold was good in spots during Oklahoma’s bowl loss to Arizona, but his first-career start as a freshman was turnover-filled, something he’ll need to improve on in 2024,” Crawford said. “Insiders suggest Arnold has all the intangibles to execute the Sooners’ attack with precision and he seems to have the utmost confidence from coach Brent Venables, who added new coordinators on both sides of the football. In the new SEC, Arnold will get countless spotlight opportunities against quality competition.”
The list rounds out with Texas A&M’s Conner Weigman (+1800), LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier (+2000), and Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart (+2000).
