Texas TE Ja’Tavion Sanders Declares for 2024 NFL Draft
While Texas Longhorns fans held some optimism surrounding junior tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders returning to Texas for his senior season, according to a Saturday report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Sanders has elected to leave school early and enter the 2024 NFL Draft.
Sanders finished off the 2023 season as the team’s third-leading receiver and capped his Longhorn career off with a solid performance in the Sugar Bowl recording six grabs for 75 yards against Washington.
Sanders capped off his junior season with 45 catches for 682 yards and two scores. His 682 yards trailed only Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell in total receiving yards for the Longhorns.
Coming out of high school, Sanders was listed as a five-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 13th-ranked prospect. He was also listed as the top athlete in his class and the third-ranked player in the state of Texas.
The Texas native is currently listed as the second-ranked tight end prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft trailing only Georgia’s Brock Bowers, according to NFLDraftBuzz.com. Sanders is projected to be selected in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft by most major mock draft services.
In total, Sanders will end his collegiate career with 99 catches for 1,295 yards, and seven touchdowns during his time in Austin.
