How To Watch Big 12 Biggest Women’s Basketball Games For Week 10: Oklahoma at Kansas State, Texas Tech at Oklahoma State

The Big 12 women’s basketball season hits Week 10 with a full slate of games on Wednesday and Saturday as we enter the second full week of league action.

The league sticks with the Wednesday-Saturday cadence for one more week before games start to get a bit more spread out during the remaining weeks.

Here’s the complete schedule, how to watch each game and, if you’re so inclined, the three (well, actually, four) must-watch games of the week.

Oklahoma at Kansas State; Texas at Kansas State

How to Watch: (Oklahoma) 6 p.m. Wednesday, ESPNU; (Texas) 1 p.m. Saturday, ESPNU

We’re going to cheat a little bit because these are big games for all three teams. Kansas State has feasted on the new Big 12 teams and now faces two critical tests to their national ranking and Big 12 contention.

The last time Oklahoma played Kansas State in Manhattan and Ayoka Lee was in the pivot she dropped 61 points on them. The Sooners have rebounded nicely after a slow start to the season and need a win like this to boost their NCAA Tournament credentials.

Texas will be facing its third ranked team in its first four Big 12 games and the Longhorns are still working through life without guard Rori Harmon. The good news for Texas is that forward Taylor Jones is back and she can match up with Lee in the paint.

There’s a reason why both games are on ESPNU.

Right now, ESPN sees Texas Tech as a bubble team for the NCAA Tournament. After just missing the Madness last season and ending up in the WNIT, coach Krista Gerlich and her Lady Raiders don’t want to miss it again. That’s why a game like this is critical. Oklahoma State is undermanned but dangerous with 3-point shooters like Anna Gret Asi and Lior Garzon. Throw in the game being in Stillwater and this a game both teams need to win or it could be a difference-maker when it comes to NCAA selection.

Baylor at Iowa State

How to Watch: Noon, Saturday, Big 12 Now on ESPN+

This game really intrigues me because I think we’ll find out just how “for real” Iowa State’s recent turnaround has been. Baylor, at this moment, is the best team in the conference. Their depth and matchup problems really don’t have an equal (Kansas State is close). Iowa State is young and, when you’re young, you don’t always know you’re not supposed to beat a team like Baylor.

Lately, ISU guard Emily Ryan has come off the bench. I wonder if this is a game where we see her start and log serious minutes, as someone has to handle Baylor guard Sarah Andrews defensively. Ryan would be the player I’d turn to, if she’s fully conditioned after missing nearly two months of the season due to injury.
