While the Big 12 Conference is widely known as the best basketball conference in America, it is still important to have the numbers to support that.

The 2023-24 season is no exception as nine of the league’s 14 teams are currently listed among the top 30 in KenPom rankings.

The nine teams and their spots on the list include Houston (No. 1), BYU (No. 9), Baylor (No. 13), Kansas (No. 16), Iowa State (No. 19), Oklahoma (No. 20), Texas Tech (No. 27), Cincinnati (No. 28), and TCU (No. 30).

The first night of Big 12 basketball featured many headlines including a viral flagrant foul against TCU, Texas Tech upsetting Texas, Cincinnati upsetting BYU, and many more.

Of the nine teams listed in the top 30, the teams finished their first matchup in conference play with an overall record of 6-3. Houston, Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Cincinnati all came away with wins while BYU, Iowa State, and TCU recorded losses.

Of the five remaining teams, Kansas State (No. 60) won while Texas (No. 40), UCF (No. 87), Oklahoma State (No. 95), and West Virginia (No. 135) all finished with losses.

The Big 12 will tip off its next round of games on Tuesday, January 9th.
