Texas Tech Picks Up TCU Defensive Back Javeon Wilcox in Transfer Portal
Texas Tech got help in the secondary within the Big 12 Conference as TCU transfer defensive back Javeon Wilcox announced his commitment to the Red Raiders.
Wilcox is coming off a redshirt season where he didn’t see the field at TCU, but coming out of high school, he was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2023. Wilcox is also a former high school teammate of Tech’s Class of 2024 five-star recruit Micah Hudson out of Lake Belton HS in Temple, TX.
In his senior season, Wilcox posted 125 tackles, including two for loss, three interceptions, two pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Wilcox was a multi-sport athlete. He also played high school basketball and ran track.
Wilcox got an offer from Texas Tech late in the recruiting process, but ultimately went with TCU. But now, he ends up in West Texas where he hopes to provide immediate help to Texas Tech’s secondary that ranked sixth in the Big 12 in passing yards allowed per game (229.2).
