Texas Tech Head Coach Grant McCasland earned a signature win on Saturday taking down the 20th-ranked Texas Longhorns 78-67.

The win secured the first conference win for McCasland in Lubbock and also provided an electric post-game celebration for coaches and members of the Texas Tech basketball team.

Tech rolled on to a 78-67 win over Rodney Terry’s squad thanks to big days from sophomore guard Pop Isaacs, junior guard Chance McMillan, senior guard Joe Toussaint, and senior forward Warren Washington.

The four paired up to combine for 62 points, 16 rebounds, and six assists in the outing which nearly outpaced Texas on their own.

With the win, Texas Tech advanced to 12-2 on the season while Texas fell to 11-3. Texas Tech takes the court next on Tuesday, January 9th against Oklahoma State at 7:00 PM CT, while Texas tips off with Cincinnati one hour earlier.

The race to the top of the Big 12 Conference is going to be a gauntlet this season with nine teams in the league currently ranked in the KenPom top 30. Texas Tech and Texas will meet again on Tuesday, February 27th in Lubbock.
