WVU Lands Jacksonville State OL Xavier Bausley in Transfer Portal
Neal Brown and the West Virginia Mountaineers added some depth on the offensive line with the addition of Xavier Bausley.
Bausley, a freshman All-American at Jacksonville State, started 11 games at right tackle and was an integral part of Rich Rodriguez’s offensive line in 2023.
Bausley spoke to Mountaineers Now’s Schuyler Callihan about the decision saying, “It means a lot to play for not only my home state but for a good West Virginia team. I remember the Pat White days…the whole state felt different when football was good. Also, Coach Moore. I absolutely love that guy. He’s one of the most knowledgeable guys I’ve been around.”
Coming out of high school, Bausley was unranked by most major recruiting services, but worked himself into a starter at Jacksonville State after redshirting as a freshman. Bausley was named to the Conference-USA All-Freshman Team, and was named to the Freshman All-American national team by The Athletic.
Bausley became the Mountaineers eighth addition through the transfer portal this offseason joining players like Oklahoma State’s Jaden Bray, Troy’s T.J. Jackson, Louisville’s Josh Minkins, and more.
West Virginia kicks off their 2024 season against Penn State on Saturday, August 31st.
