Baylor Climbs to No. 4 in Latest Women’s Basketball AP Poll
The Big 12 saw four teams make the AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Top 25, released on Monday after Week 9 of the season and the first three games of conference play.
Those teams included:
Baylor at No. 4 (No. 6 last week);
Texas at No. 10 (No. 10 last week);
Kansas State at No. 12 (No. 11 last week);
West Virginia at No. 24 (No. 24 last week).
TCU was ranked No. 23 but fell out of the Top 25 after losses in Big 12 play.
Baylor (14-0, 3-0) remains undefeated and is one of four undefeated teams in the country. The Bears beat TCU, 70-51, and Houston, 87-58. The Bears are on the road this week as they head to Kansas on Wednesday and Iowa State on Saturday.
Texas (15-1, 2-1) bounced back from its Big 12-opening loss to Baylor with a pair of decisive wins on the road. Texas beat Texas Tech, 74-47, and then beat West Virginia, 70-49.
Kansas State (15-1, 3-0) remained undefeated in Big 12 play with a pair of blowout wins over new Big 12 teams, as the Wildcats beat Houston, 72-38, and UCF, 72-56. The Wildcats will be tested this week as they host Oklahoma on Wednesday and Texas on Saturday.
West Virginia (13-1, 2-1) started the week with a 68-53 win at home over Cincinnati before falling to Texas. The Mountaineers start a new week with a road trip to Iowa State on Wednesday followed by a trip to UCF on Saturday.
TCU (14-2, 1-2) dropped their first two games of the season, falling to Baylor and then Oklahoma State, 67-59. The Horned Frogs will be without center Sedona Prince this week has they travel to Texas on Wednesday and then Houston on Saturday.
