Cincinnati Lands Former Four-Star Transfer TE Joe Royer

NCAA Football: UCLA at Cincinnati

Scott Satterfield and the Cincinnati Bearcats added a big playmaker to the roster ahead of the 2024 season with the addition of former Ohio State tight end Joe Royer.

Royer a former four-star, top 250 prospect from the state of Ohio, spent the previous three seasons with the Buckeyes before electing to enter his name into the transfer portal.

Despite spending three seasons with the Buckeyes from 2021-2023, Royer did not see the field much in Columbus. Over his three-year career, the Ohio native recorded four catches for 24 yards.

Coming out of high school, Royer was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index as well as the nation’s 211th-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the eighth-ranked tight end in his class and the ninth-ranked player in the state of Ohio.

Royer became the Bearcats’ 13th addition through the transfer portal this offseason joining Indiana’s Brendan Sorsby, Ohio State’s Evan Pryor, FAU’s Tony Johnson, New Mexico’s Mehki Miller, and more.

While the college football season is still the better part of eight months away, Cincinnati kicks off their 2024 season on Saturday, August 31st against the Towson Tigers.
