Former Baylor Tight End Jake Roberts Commits to Oklahoma
The Oklahoma Sooners have picked up a quality tight end in the transfer portal in former Baylor Bear Jake Roberts.
Roberts made his announcement on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday night.
Roberts is a native of Norman, Oklahoma and is heading home for his final season of eligibility in college football as the Sooners start their new world in the SEC in 2024. He finished the 2023 season with 23 catches for 231 yards and one touchdown for Baylor. He spent the prior three seasons at North Texas, where his best season came in 2022, finishing with 28 catches for 394 yards and three touchdowns.
The three-star recruit was committed to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, but then chose UNT over Tulsa, Colorado, Memphis, Air Force and Eastern Michigan. During the 2020 recruiting cycle, he was a Top 25 player in the state of Oklahoma and the No. 62 tight end, according to 247Sports.
Roberts’ first game in the Crimson and Cream will come on August 31st when the Sooners host the Temple Owls to start the 2024 season.
