Texas Tech Lands Oklahoma Transfer TE Jason Llewellyn

NCAA Football: Texas Tech at North Carolina State

Texas Tech continues to bolster its roster ahead of the 2024 season as the Red Raiders landed a commitment from Oklahoma transfer tight end Jason Llewellyn on Sunday.

Llewellyn, a former four-star prospect out of Aledo (Tex.), is. listed at 6-foot-5, 255 pounds, and will have three years of eligibility remaining when he arrives in Lubbock.

The former Sooner appeared in 13 games during his time in Norman, with 10 games in 2022 and only three appearances in 2023. While he didn’t start any games for Oklahoma during that stretch, he did play a role on special teams this past season.

Coming out of high school, Llewellyn was the No. 43 recruit in the state of Texas and the No. 12 tight end in the 2022 class. The Red Raiders pursued his commitment out of high school as well, but will happily add him via the portal ahead of 2024.

Llewellyn was the third portal addition for Texas Tech this past weekend, joining Nevada transfer defensive lineman James Hansen and TCU transfer defensive back Javeon Wilcox.

The trio of commitments lands TTU inside the Top 10 of the 2024 transfer portal team rankings, according to Rivals.com.

Texas Tech is coming off a 7-6 season, capped by a 34-14 victory over Cal in the Independence Bowl.
