West Virginia Adds Former ODU S Tahj Ra’El in Transfer Portal
Neal Brown and the West Virginia Mountaineers brought a new name to Morgantown ahead of the 2024 season with the addition of former Old Dominion safety Tahj Ra-El through the transfer portal.
Ra-El, a former two-star prospect from North Carolina, spent three seasons with the Monarchs before electing to enter the transfer portal with his final year of eligibility.
As a junior in 2023, Ra-El recorded 84 total tackles, six pass breakups, and one interception. Over three years at ODU, Ra’El totaled 132 stops, seven pass breakups, and one interception.
Coming out of high school, Ra’El was listed as a two-star prospect by the 247Sports index as well as the nation’s 2484th-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 202nd-ranked safety in his class and the 94th-ranked player in the state of North Carolina.
The North Carolina native became the Mountaineers’ ninth addition through the transfer portal this offseason joining Troy’s T.J. Jackson, Jacksonville State’s Xavier Bausley, Oklahoma State’s Jaden Bray and more.
While the college football season is still the better part of eight months away, West Virginia kicks off their 2024 season on Saturday, August 31st against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
