West Virginia Portal Target Jaden Voisin Returns to South Alabama

NCAA Football: Big 12 Football Media Days

While West Virginia earned a visit from one of the top-ranked defensive backs in the transfer portal over the weekend in South Alabama’s Jaden Voisin, the team will miss out on the addition as Voisin announced his decision to return to South Alabama.

Voisin was listed as the fourth-ranked safety in the transfer portal after a stellar senior season with the Jaguars where he recorded 66 tackles, four interceptions, and six pass breakups.

Voisin spent four years at South Alabama, and in his four-year career with the team, the Florida native recorded 152 tackles, six interceptions, three forced fumbles, and 11 pass breakups. As a senior in 2023, Voisin was named as a member of the All-Sun Belt First Team Defense.

Coming out of high school, Voisin was listed as a three-star prospect by the On3 Industry Rankings and checked in as the nation’s 2323rd-ranked prospect. He was also listed as the 80th-ranked player at his position and the 304th-ranked player in the state of Florida.

While the missed opportuntity stings for West Virginia fans, the 2023 offseason is shaping up to include one of the busiest portal cycles in college football history, which should give Neal Brown’s squad some more options available for secondary depth.
