Oklahoma State received some great news on Wednesday as it earned a commitment from former Arkansas running back AJ Green.

A native of Tulsa (Okla.), Green has been committed to the Golden Hurricane since December but flipped his commitment to Oklahoma State, to the delight of Cowboys fans across the Panhandle State.

A former Union Redskin (now Redhawks), Green was the No. 2 player in the state of Oklahoma and the No. 114 overall prospect in the class of 2021, according to 247Sports.

Green played for Arkansas for three seasons and will have one year of eligibility remaining when he arrives in Stillwater. During his time as a Razorback, Green amassed 201 carries for 951 yards (4.73 ypc) and six touchdowns, adding 19 receptions for 184 yards and two scores as a receiver.

Green decommitted from Tulsa on Monday via Twitter, saying he wanted to “chase his dream at the highest level of football,” and now he’ll be doing that as a member of a Power Four program.

While he was likely to serve as the Golden Hurricanes’ lead back, Green figure to be behind the 2023 Doak Walker Award winner, Ollie Gordon. Gordon led the FBS with 1,732 rushing yards and was second nationally with 21 rushing touchdowns.

Now, Green will be the primary candidate to spell Gordon in 2024, giving Oklahoma State an incredible 1-2 punch at running back.
