Look: UCF Trolls Kansas After 65-60 Upset on Wednesday
UCF basketball picked up the biggest win of its short tenure in the Big 12 with a 65-60 upset of No. 3 Kansas (13-2, 1-1) in Addition Financial Arena Look on Wednesday.
With the Big 12 being the best basketball conference in the country, it’s truly a league that teams cannot afford to take a single night off in because it could very well cost them a game. This was a perfect example of that, as the preseason favorite (Kansas) dropped a road game against the last-ranked team in the preseason poll.
Ibrahima Diallo played a huge role in the win for the Knights (10-4, 1-1), breaking a 57-57 tie with a hook shot over Hunter Dickinson with under three minutes left and then blocked a shot from KJ Adams Jr. with 50 seconds left to help secure the victory.
Jaylin Sellers and Darius Johnson led the way for the Knights offensively with 18 points and 17 points, respectively.
The shot of adrenaline that a win like that gives a program like UCF cannot be overstated, as it could very well be a deciding factor in whether or not they make the tournament come March. That is a long way down the road though, and the Knights would be better served to just enjoy the moment for now, which they are certainly doing.
The UCF basketball Twitter page made sure to leave a parting gift for the Jayhawks as they head back to Lawrence with their first conference loss of the season.
What an excellent troll job.
UCF will try to follow up its huge victory with another win against No. 18 BYU (12-3, 0-2), who will visit Orlando on Saturday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Kansas will try to rebound from the loss against No. 9 Oklahoma (13-2, 1-1) back inside the confines of Allen Fieldhouse, where they haven’t lost to the Sooners since 1993.
