Texas Tech DE Steve Linton Enters Transfer Portal
With transfer portal season officially upon us, college football fans are beginning to witness big names from their favorite teams announce their decision to enter the portal.
According to a report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Texas Tech edge rusher Steve Linton is entering the transfer portal as a grad transfer with one season of eligibility remaining.
Linton was a solid contributor for Joey McGuire’s defense in 2023 totaling 22 tackles, three sacks, and two forced fumbles. Pierre started his career off at Syracuse before transferring to Texas Tech in 2023. In five seasons of college football, Pierre recorded 67 tackles, eight sacks, and three forced fumbles.
Coming out of high school, Linton was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 900th-ranked prospect. He was also listed as the 60th-ranked defensive end in his class and the 89th-ranked player in the state of Georgia.
Texas Tech will now have a new spot to fill ahead of the 2024 season, but with this offseason shaping up to include one of the busiest portal cycles in college football history, Joey McGuire should have some options available for replacement.
