2024 Five-Star Plus CG VJ Edgecombe Picking Between Baylor and Duke
Scott Drew and the Baylor Bears are officially one of two teams left in the running for five-star combo guard VJ Edgecombe as the Kentucky Wildcats officially dropped out of the race.
Edgecombe would be a massive addition for the Bears as Edgecombe currently checks in as the fifth-ranked player in the nation.
According to a recent report from On3’s Joe Tipton, the race for Edgecombe appears to be a two-horse race behind Baylor and Duke.
“It’s really difficult to pin a favorite here,” Tipton said. “This one feels like it’ll come down to Duke and Baylor. Today, one source told me they think it’ll be Duke, but another source suggested Baylor.”
Edgecombe is currently listed as a five-star plus prospect by the 247Sports index as well as the nation’s fifth-ranked prospect. He also checks in as the second-ranked shooting guard in his class as well as the top-ranked player in the state of New York.
The New York native released his final three cutdown list on December 27th, but after spending time considering Baylor, Duke, and Kentucky, Scott Drew’s squad appears to have a 50/50 shot at landing the top prospect.
