Jedd Fisch is a Target for Washington Huskies and Tennessee Titans: Report
Nick Saban’s decision to retire has sent shockwaves across the college football coaching landscape, and one of those affected might be Arizona’s Jedd Fisch.
According to a report from the Tucson Star’s Justin Spears, Fisch is being considered as a top target for both the Washington Huskies job opening and for the vacancy for the NFL’s Tennessee Titans.
The smoke surrounding Fisch to Washington has been continuing to build after ESPN’s Pete Thamel released an initial list of targets for Washington including Fisch as well as five other coaches from the Big 12.
On3’s Andy Staples spoke on the possibility of Fisch heading to Washington mentioning, “It’s unclear whether the 47-year-old Fisch’s next move would be to the NFL, where he worked for eight different organizations during his career,” Staples said. “He also has been the offensive coordinator at Michigan and Miami, so he’s capable of succeeding in different regions at the college level. What Fisch has done at Arizona is nothing short of remarkable. He took over one of the worst roster situations in the FBS and built a winner quickly through high school recruiting and through the transfer portal. Washington saw Fisch up close last season in a one-touchdown Huskies win in Tucson. But while these programs have been in the same league, they’re both headed elsewhere. Arizona will be in the Big 12 and Washington will be in the Big Ten, and that makes the Washington job a much better destination.”
Fisch led the No. 11 Wildcats to a 10-3 record in their final season as members of the PAC-12 Conference and capped off the season by taking down Oklahoma 38-24 in the Alamo Bowl.
While Chris Klieman, Matt Campbell, Lance Leipold, Kyle Whittingham, and Kalani Sitake were all mentioned by Pete Thamel, Jedd Fisch appears to be the main target in Seattle.
