Hula Bowl Rumors Speculate Jason Bean Considering Position Change
Former Kansas quarterback Jason Bean was one of the conference’s top performing athletes last season, and ahead of the 2024 Hula Bowl for NFL prospects, scouts are beginning to take notice.
While Bean spent six seasons at the quarterback position at Kansas and North Texas, the Texas native was listed as an athlete on the Hula Bowl roster with scouts anticipating Bean to play some snaps at wide receiver.
According to Henry Greenstein of the Lawrence Journal World, “The Hula Bowl’s roster, shared with scouts at practices, that Jason Bean — who spent his KU tenure widely considered the fastest player on the team, a rarity for a quarterback — is listed as an athlete. He said Wednesday he had been told he might get some run at receiver but had only received reps at quarterback up until that point.”
Bean was a huge part of the Jayhawks success in 2023 accounting for 2,130 passing yards and a touchdown to interception ratio of 18-7. Bean capped off the Jayhawks season with a massive performance in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl going 19-28 for 449 yards and six passing touchdowns.
While Bean’s NFL future appears to be at an impasse depending on the outcome of his position change, the Texas native made for one of the best stories of the college football season helping the Jayhawks get over the hump in Lawrence.
