Top Five Recruit VJ Edgecombe Commits to Baylor Over Duke
Decision day came on Sunday for 2024 five-star recruit VJ Edgecombe. And the combo guard ended up picking the Baylor Bears over the Kentucky Wildcats and Duke Blue Devils.
Edgecome is a Top 5 prospect nationally, according to the 247Sports composite, including the No. 2 shooting guard in the country and No. 1 player in New York.
Edgecombe joins an elite class for Scott Drew with point guard Robert Wright from Montverde, a 5-star big wing in 6’9” Jason Asemota from Prolific Prep and a seven-footer in Noah Boyed from McCook Community College. Baylor’s 2024 Class now ranks No. 5 in the country, per 247Sports.
Edgecombe, Wright, and Asemota are all Top 10 recruits in Baylor basketball history, which means this will be Baylor’s best recruiting class ever.
The New York native released his final three cutdown list on December 27th, but after spending time considering Baylor, Duke, and Kentucky, it was believed the final decision came down to the Bears and the Blue Devils.
