K-State Leads Four Big 12 Teams in Women’s Basketball AP Poll
The Big 12 saw four teams make the AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Top 25, released on Monday after Week 10 of the season and the first five games of conference play.
Those teams included:
Kansas State at No. 7 (No. 12 last week);
Texas at No. 11 (No. 10 last week);
Baylor at No. 12 (No. 4 last week);
Iowa State at No. 24 (not ranked last week);
West Virginia dropped out of the Top 25 (No. 24 last week).
Kansas State (17-1, 5-0) remained undefeated in Big 12 play and beat last season’s Big 12 co-champions back-to-back — Oklahoma, 74-57, and Texas, 61-58. Kansas State travels to TCU on Wednesday and then host Kansas on Saturday in the first of the Sunflower State Showdown games.
Texas (16-2, 3-2) split for the week, as the Longhorns beat TCU, 72-60, and then lost to Kansas State, 61-58. Texas plays twice this week, as the Longhorns host Kansas on Tuesday and travels to Oklahoma State on Saturday.
Baylor (14-2, 3-2) lost both of its games last week to drop in the rankings, falling to Kansas, 87-66, and Iowa State, 66-63. The Bears get some time off during the week before hosting UCF on Saturday.
Iowa State (12-4, 5-0) broke into the poll this week for the first time after beating two ranked teams last week — West Virginia, 74-64, and Baylor, 66-63. The Cyclones start the week on the road with a trip to Texas Tech on Wednesday, followed by a home game against TCU on Saturday.
West Virginia (14-2, 3-2) fell out of the poll after a 1-1 week. The Mountaineers went on the road and lost to Iowa State, 74-64, and then beat Big 12 newcomer UCF, 76-59. The Mountaineers host Houston on Wednesday and then travel to Cincinnati on Saturday.
