Isaiah Miranda No Longer with Oklahoma State Basketball Program
The Oklahoma State basketball program has taken another hit. On Tuesday night, head coach Mike Boynton announced on the OSU pregame radio show that redshirt freshman center Isaiah Miranda is no longer with the program.
Miranda only played in three games for the Cowboys, scoring eight total points, along with seven rebounds and a steal. Boynton said Miranda is seeking professional opportunities.
“Really good kid,” Boynton said, according to Pistols Firing Blog. “We’re pulling for him, but he won’t be with us moving forward.”
Miranda never really got going with the Pokes, suffering a hip injury in the preseason, and then rolling an ankle in November before a game against New Orleans. His season debut came a couple of weeks later against Tulsa, where he played four minutes, scoring two points and grabbing two rebounds.
Miranda was a big-time recruit, listed at 7’1”, 220 pounds and a 39-inch vertical. Coming out of high school, Miranda was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index, as well as one of the top 50 recruits in the nation. Miranda checked in as the nation’s 48th-ranked player, the 11th-ranked center in the country, and the sixth-best player in the state of California. He began his career at NC State, but never played a game before hitting the transfer portal.
With Miranda leaving the program, the Cowboys are down to just 11 scholarship players of a possible 13. OSU started the year down a scholarship due to the sanctions brought on from the FBI’s investigation.
