Noah Fifita, Tetairoa McMillan to Stay at Arizona: Report
It was a tough week for the Arizona football program after Jedd Fisch left the Wildcats to take over at Washington ahead of the 2024 season.
Not only did they lose their head coach, but starting running back Jonah Coleman also entered the transfer portal, the first major contributor to leave following Fisch’s exit from the program, and more are expected to follow.
According to a report from CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd, the Arizona Wildcats are expected to retain quarterback Noah Fifita and wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan after losing head coach.
Dodd also says that Wildcats’ wide receiver coach Kevin Cummings would be a major factor in Arizona retaining the pair of star playmakers.
In 2023, Fifita completed 72.4% of his attempts for 2,869 yards and 26 touchdowns with just five interceptions. 90 attempts, 1,402 yards, and 10 of those touchdowns went to McMillan, as the All-American wideout led the Arizona offense with 15.6 yards per catch.
If they do indeed stay, it would be a major boost for the Wildcats heading into the 2024 season.
With Jonah Coleman heading out for the time being, Arizona is still set to return 17 starters from the 2023 season, when the Wildcats went 10-3 and won the Alamo Bowl.
Getting Fifita and McMillan back would go a long way in helping Arizona contend for a Big 12 coach in 2024 and with new head coach Brent Brennan coming in, he’ll need all the playmakers he can get to compete in one of the toughest leagues in college football.
