Texas Lands Former Oregon State Transfer WR Silas Bolden
While the Texas Longhorns are losing multiple big-name playmakers at the wide receiver position to the 2024 NFL Draft, Steve Sarkisian’s team reloaded by adding a new name to the group.
Texas landed the top-ranked receiver available in the portal, former Oregon State wideout Silas Bolden who elected to transfer to Texas after three years with the Beavers.
Bolden was a big part of Oregon State’s offensive success in 2023 recording 54 grabs for 746 yards and five touchdowns in his junior season. Through three years of college football at Oregon State, Bolden totaled 80 catches for 1,076 yards and 11 total scores.
Coming out of high school, Bolden was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index as well as the nation’s 1176th-ranked prospect. He also checked in as the 173rd-ranked player at his position and the 101st-ranked player in the state of California.
Bolden became Texas’ fifth addition through the transfer portal this offseason joining Alabama’s Isaiah Bond, Houston’s Matthew Golden, UTSA’s Trey Moore, and Clemson’s Andrew Mukuba. With Golden, Bolden, and Bond all headed to Austin for the upcoming season, the Longhorns replaced the likes of Adonai Mitchell and Xavier Worthy with 2,952 yards of proven production.
While the college football season is still the better part of eight months away, Texas kicks off their 2024 season on Saturday, August 31st against the Colorado State Rams.
