Former Alabama Tight End Amari Niblack Commits to Texas
The Texas Longhorns continue to clean up in the transfer portal, landing former Alabama tight end Amari Niblack. The announcement was made on his social media on Thursday night.
With Ja’Tavion Sanders departing for the NFL draft, Niblack could fill that void nicely. He hauled in 20 receptions for 327 yards and four touchdowns and averaged 16.4 yards per reception during the 2023 college football season.
Niblack’s best game of the season came in Alabama’s Week 2 loss to Texas when he had two catches for 49 yards, including a fourth-quarter touchdown.
Niblack was a former four-star recruit, according to 247Sports. The Clearwater, Florida native was the No. 5 athlete in the country and a Top 20 recruit out of Florida.
Unlike some previous Alabama players who entered the NCAA transfer portal and then ended up at Texas, there aren’t any staff ties to the 6’4, 233-pounder and he’s not from Texas like linebacker Kendrick Blackshire.
Steve Sarkisian has now landed five former Alabama players in the transfer portal since becoming the UT head coach in 2021, including Agiye Hall and Jahleel Billingsley.
