Former Vanderbilt LB Ethan Barr Transfers to UCF
Gus Malzahn and the UCF Knights added a new name to their roster ahead of the 2024 season snagging a linebacker transfer from Vanderbilt.
The former Commodores linebacker Ethan Barr elected to transfer to Washington, but after some changes surrounding the Huskies head coaching position, Barr re-entered the portal and transferred to UCF.
Barr was a big piece of Vanderbilt’s defense in 2023 totaling 54 tackles. one sack, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup. Throughout his four seasons with the Commodores, Barr recorded a total of 218 stops, five pass breakups, one sack, one forced fumble, three interceptions, and five pass breakups.
Coming out of high school, Barr was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the 1865th-ranked prospect. He was also listed as the 79th-ranked player at his position and the 260th-ranked player in the state of Texas.
Alston becomes the Knights’ 16th addition in the transfer portal this offseason joining Arkansas’ KJ Jefferson, Cincinnati’s Myles Montgomery, Samford’s Jabari Brooks, and many more. UCF finished ninth in the league in their first season in the Big 12 Conference, and after some solid additions through the transfer portal, Gus Malzahn’s squad could slip into the dark-horse conversation as a title contender.
