Four Oklahoma State Students Charged in Relation to Dead Longhorn Prank
While the storyline of a group of Oklahoma State students electing to leave a dead longhorn carcass on the front lawn of a campus fraternity ahead of the Big 12 Championship game was initially chalked up as an over-the-top prank, students involved in the situation were greeted with official punishments this week for their actions.
The Stillwater Police Department charged and arrested four men responsible for the act with unlawful disposal of a carcass, resulting in a misdemeanor crime for the likes of Bennett Fady, Luke Ackerley, Andrew King, and Brody Shelby.
According to a report from On3’s Andrew Graham, police affidavits indicate that FarmHouse, the fraternity where the dead longhorn was left, had been in an escalating “prank war” with fellow OSU fraternity, Alpha Gamma Rho.
Oklahoma State University released an initial statement on the situation back on December 1st, which reads, “Oklahoma State University is appalled at the disturbing display of animal cruelty that occurred overnight at an off-campus location near a fraternity house. The Stillwater Police Department is investigating the incident, and the university’s Office of Student Support and Conduct also has initiated an investigation. Oklahoma State expects all students to adhere to university codes of conduct, and appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.”
While the story seemed to cool off following the conclusion of the Big 12 Championship Game, the Stillwater Police Department continued to conduct a thorough investigation behind the scenes in order to hold the guilty parties responsible.
