Kansas State C Ayoka Lee to Miss Four Weeks with Ankle Injury

Jeff Mittie and the Kansas State Wildcats Women’s Basketball team will be without their All-American center Ayoka Lee for four weeks after Lee underwent surgery on her ankle.

According to a report from the Kansas City Star’s Kellis Robinett, Lee was seen in a boot due to extreme soreness in her ankle following the Wildcats’ 74-57 win, and after receiving X-rays on her ankle, it was revealed that Lee sustained a fractured ankle.

Lee, a 6-foot-6 senior from Byron Minnesota, was having another All-American caliber season in 2023-24 prior to her injury by averaging 19.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game on 67.7% shooting from the field.

Robinett reported that she was kicked during the game against Oklahoma and was originally thought to be dealing with soreness. After receiving an MRI, the Wildcats discovered that Lee suffered a fractured ankle in the fourth game of Big 12 play.

Despite her fractured ankle, Lee took the court against 10th-ranked Texas on January 13th and recorded an outstanding stat line of 21 points and 10 rebounds in the Wildcats’ 61-58 win.

With the Minnesota native expected to miss roughly four weeks in her return to the court, she will likely become available for the Wildcats February 17th game against UCF should her recovery not suffer any setbacks.

While Lee will not be taking the court with her teammates in the Sunflower Showdown, Kansas State will tip off against Kansas on Saturday, January 20th at 1:00 PM CT.
