Texas Tech 2024 Spring Game to Be Held at Midland
Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders are heading into their third season after ending each of the first two years with a winning record, going 15-11 overall.
Texas Tech is coming off a 7-6 campaign after beginning the season as a popular dark horse candidate to win the Big 12 in 2023.
There’s plenty of excitement around the program in Lubbock, and that excitement has produced plans for new facilities for the football team, with the south end zone at Jones AT&T Stadium currently under construction.
Because of that, the Red Raiders will have to hold their 2024 Spring Game somewhere else, and that’s exactly what they’ll do.
According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Texas Tech will hold its spring game on April 20 at Midland’s Astound Broadband Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. with more information to come closer to the date.
This isn’t out of the norm though, as Texas Tech regularly held the spring game in Midland from 2013 to 2019.
“The Permian Basin is such a vital area for us,” Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire said in a news release, “not only from a recruiting perspective but also due to the large alumni base that is so dedicated to this university. We look forward to bringing our team back to Midland for what I’m sure will be a memorable experience.”
The Red Raiders’ spring game will serve as the conclusion to Texas Tech’s spring practices, which will begin on March 19.
