Arizona Donor Sends Powerful Message to Jedd Fisch
While reports surrounding Jedd Fisch‘s departure from Arizona may not have painted Washington’s newest head coach in a great light, a recent message from one of Arizona’s donors took things to a whole new level.
Arizona donor Humberto Lopez told On3’s Chandler Vessels that he went out of his way to retain Arizona’s best players and keep them from following Fisch.
Lopez sent a message to Fisch following his decision to move to Washington which read, “You could have been a legend here at Arizona had you stayed. I went out of my way to make sure you didn’t get out best players. I don’t ever wish anyone bad luck and you are the first one. You disappointed me. I thought we were friends.”
While the Arizona donor’s message further established some bad blood between Fisch and the Wildcats, Lopez revealed more thoughts on the situation in a conversation with the Tucson Star’s Justin Spears.
“It upset me to no end,” Lopez said. “That’s the reason that got me more involved. I want to make sure that he’s not successful. And he’s in panic mode right now. He thought he could take everybody.”
Despite rumblings of Fisch picking apart his former roster in the transfer portal, Arizona was able to retain multiple stars at the program with freshman phenom quarterback Noah Fifita, wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, and running back Rayshon Luke.
While it’s tough to say what the future holds for both Fisch and the University of Arizona, thanks to the help of key donors like Lopez paired with the quick hire of Brent Brennan, the Wildcats should have a chance to compete in their first year as members of the Big 12 Conference.
