Former Texas Tech DE Steve Linton Transfers to Baylor
Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears added a new name to their roster ahead of the 2024 football season with the addition of an in-conference transfer.
Former Texas Tech defensive end Steve Linton announced on Instagram on Monday night that he has officially decided to transfer to Baylor for his final year of eligibility.
Linton was a solid contributor for Joey McGuire’s defense in 2023 totaling 22 tackles, three sacks, and two forced fumbles. Pierre started his career off at Syracuse before transferring to Texas Tech in 2023. In five seasons of college football, Linton recorded 67 tackles, eight sacks, and three forced fumbles.
Coming out of high school, Linton was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 900th-ranked prospect. He was also listed as the 60th-ranked defensive end in his class and the 89th-ranked player in the state of Georgia.
With his commitment, Linton becomes the Bears’ ninth addition through the transfer portal this offseason joining the likes of Toledo’s Dequan Finn, Montana State’s Omar Aigbedion, Western Kentucky’s Kendrick Simpkins, and more.
While the college football season is still the better part of eight months away, Dave Aranda’s squad kicks off their 2024 season on Saturday, August 31st against the Tarleton State Texans.
