Houston Climbs To No. 4, Kansas Drops to No. 7 in Latest Men’s Basketball Poll
Seven Big 12 teams were among the nation’s best as the Associated Press Men’s Basketball Top 25 was released after the season’s 11th week of games.
The Big 12 ranked teams included:
Houston at No. 4 (No. 5 last week);
Kansas at No. 7 (No. 3 last week);
Oklahoma at No. 11 (No. 15 last week).
Baylor at No. 15 (No. 9 last week);
Texas Tech at No. 20 (No. 25 last week)
BYU at No. 21 (No. 20 last week);
Iowa State at No. 23 (No. 24 last week)
TCU not ranked (No. 19 last week)
Houston (16-2, 3-2) won both games last week, as the Cougars defeated Texas Tech, 77-54, and UCF, 57-42. Houston travels to BYU on Tuesday and hosts Kansas State on Saturday.
Kansas (15-3, 3-2) split last week, as the Jayhawks beat Oklahoma State, 90-66, but lost to West Virginia, 91-85. Kansas hosts Cincinnati on Monday and then travels to Iowa State on Saturday.
Oklahoma (15-3, 3-2) won both of its games last week, beating West Virginia, 77-63, and Cincinnati, 69-65. The Sooners host Texas on Tuesday and host Texas Tech on Saturday.
Baylor (14-4, 3-2) lost both of its games last week, falling to Kansas State, 68-64, in overtime and Texas, 75-73. Baylor has the mid-week games off and will host TCU on Saturday.
Texas Tech (15-3, 4-1) split last week. The Red Raiders lost their first league game, falling to Houston, 77-54. But Texas Tech salvaged its week with an 85-78 win over BYU. Texas Tech is off during the week but travels to Oklahoma on Saturday.
BYU (14-4, 2-3) split its games last week. The Cougars beat Iowa State, 87-72, and fell to Texas Tech, 85-78. BYU will host Houston on Tuesday and Texas on Saturday.
Iowa State (14-4, 3-2) split last week. The Cyclones fell to BYU, 87-72, but bounced back to defeat TCU, 73-72. Iowa State hosts both Kansas schools this week — Kansas State on Wednesday and Kansas on Saturday.
TCU (13-5, 2-3) lost both of its games last week. The Horned Frogs fell to Cincinnati in overtime, 81-77, and then Iowa State, 73-72. The Horned Frogs are on the road this week, traveling to Oklahoma State on Tuesday and Baylor on Saturday.
