How To Watch Big 12 Biggest Men’s Basketball Games For Week 12
The Big 12 men’ basketball season starts Week 12 of the season with games spread throughout the week and some great matchups each night.
The league gets back to playing Big Monday games for the first time, as the Big 12 has games on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Plus, Baylor and Texas Tech get a bye during the week before returning to the floor this weekend.
Here’s the complete schedule, how to watch each game and, if you’re so inclined, the three must-watch games of the week in league where frankly every game is a must-watch.
Cincinnati at Kansas
How To Watch: Monday, 8 p.m., ESPN
Cincinnati makes the trip to Allen Fieldhouse. This has the potential to be an intriguing game. The Bearcats have been solid on the road in Big 12 play and they’re one of the few members of the conference that have the depth up front to give Kansas forward Hunter Dickinson fits. That matchup alone should be intriguing.
For that reason, how the Bearcats defend the rest of the Jayhawks — most notably Kevin McCullar Jr. — will be key. The Jayhawks have made a change in the starting lineup, sliding in Johnny Furphy for Elmarko Jackson. It seem to be working and coach Bill Self likes the chemistry, in spite of what happened in Morgantown against West Virginia on Saturday.
Houston at BYU
How to Watch: 8 p.m., Tuesday, Big 12 Now on ESPN+
This game is significant for both teams. So far, Houston has done a great job of defending its home floor but is 0-2 on the road in the Big 12. Granted, the Cougars could have won both of those road games (at Iowa State, at TCU). But Houston needs to show it can steal a few on the road to be among the upper echelon in this league.
BYU has built a great homecourt advantage. Last week Iowa State got a real dose of it as the Cyclones lost. These Couguars have a plethora of weapons that can stretch defenses to the breaking point. Houston’s Cougars love to defend halfcourt and trap on the wings. Can BYU pass out of those traps cleanly and create offense? That’s how ISU beat Houston two weeks ago. Points will be at a premium.
TCU at Baylor
How to Watch: Saturday, 3 p.m., ESPN2
Four or five years ago rivalry drove the result of this game. Now its equality. TCU has turned his program into one that can challenge every team in the conference, and that includes Baylor, which won the 2021 national title.
TCU is going to run the floor offensively, create turnovers and crash the glass. Baylor is going to mix up defenses, get the ball to Ja’Kobe Walter’s and let him roll. But the Bears need more offense from Yves Missi, their 7-foot freshman, if they want to continue to contend in this year’s iteration of the Big 12.
