Former Arizona DL Tiaoalii Savea Transfers to Texas
Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns added a new name to their roster ahead of the 2024 football season with the addition of a defensive lineman from Arizona.
Former Arizona defensive lineman Tiaoalii Savea announced on Tuesday afternoon his plans to transfer to Texas after Arizona head coach Jedd Fisch elected to leave the team and succeed Kalen DeBore at Washington.
Savea was a solid contributor for Jedd Fisch’s defense in 2023 totaling 21 tackles and 1.5 sacks. The Nevada native started his career off at UCLA before transferring to Arizona in 2022. In three seasons of college football, Savea recorded 42 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two pass breakups.
Coming out of high school, Linton was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and checked in as the nation’s 226th-ranked prospect. He was also listed as the 31st-ranked defensive lineman in his class and the third-ranked player in the state of Nevada.
With his commitment, Savea becomes the Longhorns’ seventh addition through the transfer portal this offseason joining the likes of Alabama’s Isaiah Bond, UTSA’s Trey Moore, Clemson’s Andrew Mukuba, Houston’s Matthew Golden, and more.
While the college football season is still the better part of eight months away, Steve Sarkisian’s squad kicks off their 2024 season on Saturday, August 31st against the Colorado State Rams.
