Big 12 Football Players Who Made PFF’s Top 75 Prospects List

Syndication: Austin American-Statesman

With the 2023 college football season in the books, it’s time to move on to the next chapter for some of these players. We are just four months away from the 2024 NFL Draft when some of the best players in college football will get the chance to do what many of them have dreamed about since their childhood.

Until then, there is plenty of time for guys to improve their draft stock to rise up those boards. Earlier this week, Pro Football Focus released their top 75 prospects, and here are the Big 12 players who made the cut.

#40 Iowa State CB T.J. Tampa

Anyone who follows me on social media knows that I love me some T.J. Tampa. He’s been a lockdown corner for the Cyclones over the last few years and is a two-time All-Big 12 player. He’s tall, lengthy, and physical which means NFL scouts should be drooling over him.

#41 Texas WR Adonai Mitchell

After transferring from Georgia last spring. Adonai had himself a heck of a season in Austin. The junior caught 55 passes for 845 yards and had a team-high 11 touchdown grabs. Why is he such a scoring threat? I am guessing his size (6’4) had something to do with it.

#44 Texas DL Byron Murphy II

Many people focus on Big 12 defensive player of the year T’Vondre Sweat and people should be talking more about Byron Murphy. At 6-foot-1, 305 pounds Murphy is stout and had a pass rush grade above 90.

#49 Oklahoma OL Tyler Guyton

For a guy who is 6’7, he can move but he is by no means a finished product. Tyler has started just 14 games on the offensive line for the Sooners. Think of him as more of a project pick than a guy who will play right away.

#51 Texas WR Xavier Worthy

Coming into the 2023 season, there were high expectations for Xavier. And while his touchdown numbers may have dropped, he did have a 1,000-yard season for the Longhorns. The NFL loves speed and Xavier can run with the best of them.

#52 TCU CB Josh Newton

Ever since his arrival from ULM back in 2022, all Josh Newton has done is make plays. He has started every game since stepping on campus and is a two-time All-Big 12 cornerback for the Horned Frogs. Over the last two seasons, he has over 20 pass breakups and has been a staple of TCU’s defense.

#54 Houston OL Patrick Paul

There weren’t many bright spots for Houston this past season, but Patrick Paul was one of them. Much like Tyler Guyton from Oklahoma, Paul is a massive human (6’7, 315 pounds). The only difference is that Patrick is a much better pass blocker.

#58 Texas TE Ja’Tavion Sanders

It’s not often we talk about Big 12 tight ends, but Ja’Tavion Sanders is one of the best the conference has seen over the past few years. He’s more of a receiving threat than a blocker but he could end up being a great addition for any NFL team.

#63 West Virginia OL Zach Fraizer

If not for a serious leg injury, Zach may have been higher on this list. He’s a three-year starter for the Mountaineers and was one of the best centers in all of college football.

#64 Texas RB Jonathon Brooks

Much like Zach Fraizer, an injury cut Jonathon’s season short. Jonathan has the size and speed to do just about anything and could have been the best running back in college football if he had stayed healthy.

#66 Texas DL T’Vondre Sweat

What more can I say about this guy? He’s a physical freak and was the Big 12 defensive player of the year for a reason. The man can play football. Sweat can plug up any gap and cause havoc throughout a game.

#69 BYU OL Kinglsey Suamataia

Suamataia is a former five-star offensive lineman who moves well for his size. However, he is going to need some time to develop at the next level.
