EA Sports College Football Ultimate Team: All-Big 12 Edition
This summer, the college football world will finally get what it’s been waiting on for over a decade, as EA Sports College Football is reportedly set to release in July.
While there’s been limited knowledge released about the game, 247Sports’ Brandon Marcello did report on Thursday some variations of the same game modes that we saw previously in NCAA Football 14, including Road to Glory, Dynasty, and Ultimate Team modes.
The latter mode, Ultimate Team, has been a point of contention for the Madden community, as micro-transactions have essentially taken over as the focus of the game.
However, if EA is putting in the amount of work that it claims to be, Ultimate Team could be a great addition to the game without being the primary focus.
That got me thinking. What would an All-Big 12 Ultimate Team look like? Over the last 10 years, NCAA Football fans have been deprived of seeing their favorite players in the game, but Ultimate Team has a chance to change that.
To make our ultimate team, Big 12 players have to fit this list of criteria:
- Played in the Big 12 from 2014-2023
- Made an All-Big 12 Team (First, Second, or Third Team)
- Will Not be an Active Big 12 Player in 2024
- Selection based on accomplishments in college, not in the NFL
All-Big 12 Ultimate Team Offense (2014-2023)
QB: Kyler Murray, Oklahoma (2018)
OVERALL RATING: 98
The 2018 Heisman winner was a no-brainer here as his combination of speed, accuracy, and arm strength would make him the right-handed version of Michael Vick from Madden 2004: an unstoppable offensive weapon.
RB Bijan Robinson, Texas (2022)
OVERALL RATING: 96
The Doak Walker Award winner in 2022, Bijan Robinson was an electric and versatile athlete who piled up nearly 1,900 total yards and 20 touchdowns in 2022.
RB Deuce Vaughn, Kansas State (2022)
OVERALL RATING: 94
As one of the shiftiest and most difficult players to tackle in Big 12 history, Deuce Vaughn was a consensus All-American in 2022 and would be a monster RB to pair with Bijan.
TE Mark Andrews, Oklahoma (2017)
OVERALL RATING: 96
The 2017 John Mackey Award winner as the top tight end in the country, Mark Andrews was a mismatch nightmare for opponents and feasted in 2017 with 62 catches for 958 yards and eight scores.
WR Corey Coleman, Baylor (2015)
OVERALL RATING: 95
The first of three consecutive Biletnikoff Award winners for the Big 12, Corey Coleman was a monster in 2015, recording 74 receptions for 1,363 yards and a whopping 20 touchdowns (T-10th in FBS history).
WR Dede Westbrook, Oklahoma (2016)
OVERALL RATING: 93
Before CeeDee Lamb, there was Dede Westbrook, who won the Biletnikoff in 2016 after recording 80 receptions for 1,524 yards and 17 touchdowns.
WR: James Washington, Oklahoma State (2017)
OVERALL RATING: 93
The most recent Biletnikoff winner in the Big 12, James Washington was a menace for opposing secondaries in 2017, turning 74 receptions into 1,549 yards and 13 touchdowns.
LT: Orlando Brown, Oklahoma (2017)
OVERALL RATING: 96
A unanimous All-American and two-time Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year, Orlando Brown kept Baker Mayfield’s uniform clean very well during his time in Norman.
LG: Cooper Beebe, Kansas State (2023)
OVERALL RATING: 96
Cooper Beebe is the most decorated offensive lineman in Kansas State history, earning Unanimous All-American honors in 2023, and was a two-time All-Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year.
C Creed Humphery, Oklahoma (2020)
OVERALL RATING: 95
A two-time Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year and All-American in 2020, Creed Humphery logged 2,445 snaps during his time at OU and never allowed a sack.
RG Spencer Drango, Baylor (2015)
OVERALL RATING: 97
A two-time consensus All-American, Spencer Drango was one of the best offensive linemen to ever play in the Big 12 and was a key factor in Baylor’s offensive success in 2015.
RT: Dalton Risner, Kansas State (2018)
OVERALL RATING: 96
A Consensus First-Team All-American and Co-Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year, Dalton Risner was one of the most physically dominating players to come through the Big 12 in recent memory.
PK: Gabe Brkic, Oklahoma (2019)
OVERALL RATING: 97
A first-team All-American, Gabe Brkic had one of the best seasons ever for a kicker in 2019, going a perfect 17 for 17 on field goal tries with a long of 50 yards, as well as 52 for 52 on XP tries.
KR/PR: Morgan Burns, Kansas State (2015)
OVERALL RATING: 98
The Big 12 career record holder for kick return average (30.8), Morgan Burns left the Big 12 with the second-most kickoff return touchdowns in Big 12 history (5).
All-Big 12 Ultimate Team Defense (2014-2023)
DT T’Vondre Sweat, Texas (2023)
OVERALL RATING: 98
The first Big 12 player to win the Outland Trophy since Ndamukong Suh (2009), T’Vondre Sweat was virtually unblockable in 2023 and earned Unanimous All-American and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors as well.
DT James Lynch, Baylor (2019)
OVERALL RATING: 95
In one of the best seasons for any Big 12 defender in history, Baylor’s James Lynch stacked up 19.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks in 2019 on his way to Big 12 DPOY and First-Team All-American honors.
DE Will McDonald IV, Iowa State (2021)
OVERALL RATING: 97
Will McDonald was dominant over two years in 2020-21, amassing 26.0 TFLs and 22.0 sacks over 23 games, and is one of a handful of players ever to earn first-team All-Big 12 honors in three straight seasons.
DE Jordan Willis, Kansas State (2016)
OVERALL RATING: 93
The 2016 Big 12 DPOY, Willis amassed 17.5 TFLs and 11.5 sacks with three forced fumbles in his senior season with the Wildcats.
LB/DE Emmanuel Ogbah, Oklahoma State (2015)
OVERALL RATING: 95
In his final season in Stillwater, Emmanuel Ogbah earned Big 12 DPOY honors after tallying 63 total tackles, 16.5 TFLs, 12.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
LB Paul Dawson, TCU (2014)
OVERALL RATING: 93
Paul Dawson’s 2014 season was one of the greatest in TCU history, tallying 136 total tackles, 20.0 TFLs, 6.0 sacks, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.
LB David Long, West Virginia
OVERALL RATING: 92
The 2018 Big 12 DPOY and All-American, Long recorded 111 tackles, 19.0 TFLs, 7.0 sacks, and a forced fumble in his final season with the Mountaineers.
LB/S Jalen Pitre, Baylor (2021)
OVERALL RATING: 94
Baylor’s Jalen Pitre was one of the most versatile defenders in the Big 12 over the last decade, and in 2021 he earned First-Team All-American and Big 12 DPOY honors with 18.5 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, 3 INTs, and 3 forced fumbles.
FS Tre’von Moehrig, TCU (2020)
OVERALL RATING: 93
The winner of the 2020 Thorpe Award, Tre’von Moehrig was the best safety in college football over his final two seasons in Fort Worth, racking up 7 INTs and 20 pass breakups along the way.
SS Karl Joseph, West Virginia (2014)
OVERALL RATING: 92
Karl Joseph is one of the hardest-hitting safeties the Big 12 has seen and was on his way to a career-year in 2015 with five interceptions in four games before tearing his ACL.
CB: Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson, TCU (2022)
OVERALL RATING: 96
One of the best cover defenders the Big 12 has ever seen, Hodges-Tomlinson was the 2022 Jim Thorpe Award winner and a First-Team All-American with 18 passes defended with three interceptions in his final year at TCU.
CB Zach Sanchez, Oklahoma (2015)
OVERALL RATING: 92
Zach Sanchez ranks second in Big 12 history with15 interceptions during his time at Oklahoma, and in 2015 he earned All-American and All-Big 12 Honors with seven INTs, seven passes defended, 3.5 TFLs, and a sack.
P: Austin McNamara, Texas Tech (2021)
OVERALL RATING: 98
Austin McNamara is easily one of the best Big 12 punters ever, holding the Big 12 career record with 45.94 yards per punt and the Big 12 single-season record of 48.2 yards per punt.
