TJ Otzelberger Adds Juicy Accusation to Kansas State Spying Allegation
While the ongoing drama between Kansas State and Iowa State continues to make headlines seemingly by the hour, Iowa State head coach TJ Otzelberger added a new wrinkle to the situation.
Following a 79-75 win over Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks, Otzelberger discussed the rumors and added, “What is factual that one of their staff members cursed out one of our student managers who was mopping the floor during a time out.”
Otzelberger angrily addressed the situation saying, “It’s incredibly disappointing that after such an awesome game and an awesome environment, I have to begin by addressing something that happened earlier this week. The ludicrous rumors earlier this week that somehow we were trying to gain an advantage by looking into our opponents’ huddles is an affront to our players, our fans, and to me.”
“It’s not who I am, it’s not what our program is about, and I am angry that someone would even make that suggestion,” Otzelberger said. “What is factual is one of their staff members cursed out one of our student managers who was mopping the floor under the basket. Let’s put this to bed here and now. It didn’t happen, it won’t happen, and others need to be much more careful with their words moving forward.”
While Otzelberger attempted to put the situation to rest, adding in an accusation of his own may just end up fanning the flames of the back-and-forth. While it’s possible that Otz’s comments could signal the end of the situation between the Cyclones and Wildcats, smart bettors would likely put their money down on this not being the last update from either program for very long.
