Troy Hires West Virginia QB Coach Sean Reagan as Offensive Coordinator
While Neal Brown and the West Virginia Mountaineers had a solid season in 2023 with a 9-3 overall record, the coaching staff will be losing its quarterbacks coach Sean Reagan to Troy.
According to a Sunday report from 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Reagan is expected to be hired by Troy as the team’s new offensive coordinator after spending the previous five seasons in Morgantown.
Reagan helped lead West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene to a career year as a junior which featured 2,406 passing yards and a touchdown to interception ratio of 16-4. Greene also put up some stellar numbers in the rushing attack with 772 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023.
The Mountaineers offense was one of the better units in the Big 12 Conference this season with Reagan contributing to an offensive attack that finished among the leagues best in multiple statistical categories. West Virginia finished seventh (434.6) in total yards per game, first in rushing yards per game (228.9), and fifth in points per game (31.5).
With the loss of Reagan, West Virginia is expected to name special analyst Tyler Allen as the team’s new quarterback coach ahead of the 2024 season. Allen has spent time operating in the same role at Jacksonville State where he helped quarterback Zion Webb be named a First Team All-Conference selection at quarterback in 2020.
While the college football season is still the better part of eight months away, West Virginia kicks off the 2024 campaign against the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday, August 31st.
