ESPN Lists One Big 12 Game on its List of 2024 ‘Can’t-Miss’ Games
While the Big 12 Conference is set to release the 2024 football schedule at 10:00 AM CT on Tuesday, January 30th, league matchups were already announced this offseason with multiple games to circle for each fanbase.
One game in particular got some love from ESPN with the matchup between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Utah Utes being listed as one of the “Can’t-Miss Games” of the 2024 season.
Athlon Sports’ Zach McKinnell wrote about the matchup between the Big 12 schools saying, “Many experts believe this game could determine who the favorite in the new Big 12 will be next season. Quarterback Cam Rising returns from injury as the Utes will look to win the third conference title in the past four seasons. Oklahoma State will look to take the throne in the conference after Texas and Oklahoma depart for the SEC. The Cowboys have made two Big 12 Championship game appearances in the past three seasons and are primed to make a run for their first conference title since 2011.”
The Cowboys, fresh off of an appearance in the 2023 Big 12 Championship Game, have quickly become one of the presumed favorites to win the Big 12 in 2024 thanks to a mixture of good coaching and returning multiple big-name players. The Cowboys will be getting back the majority of offensive production in 2024 with players like Doak Walker Award Winner Ollie Gordon, senior wide receiver Brennan Presley, quarterback Alan Bowman, and many more.
Utah on the other hand is coming off of an 8-5 season despite missing their veteran quarterback Cam Rising who sustained a season-ending knee injury in 2023. The Utes are one of four new teams to join the Big 12 Conference in 2024 with Arizona, Arizona State, and Colorado all departing the Pac-12 to join the league.
The storyline of former PAC-12 teams taking the field as members of the Big 12 Conference will certainly be one to follow in 2024 as the start of the college football season continues to grow closer.
