How To Watch Big 12 Biggest Men’s Basketball Games For Week 13

The Big 12 men’s basketball season starts Week 13 of the season and we have a wealth of great games to watch this coming week.

The league tips off with a Big Monday showdown in Austin, five other quality games at mid-week and an incredible slate of matchups on Saturday. BYU and Iowa State get the mid-week byes this time around.

Here’s the complete schedule, how to watch each game, and, if you’re so inclined, the three must-watch games of the week in a league where frankly every game is a must-watch.

Houston at Texas

How To Watch: Monday, 8 p.m., ESPN

This is a game that Houston has likely been waiting for since the Big 12 slate started. Back in the Southwest Conference days, the Cougars and the Longhorns had some big games. This should be no different. Amping up the pressure will be the fact that Texas is leaving the Big 12 after the season and Houston would love nothing more than to hang a loss on Texas in its new building.

Houston’s defense is off the charts. Guard L.J. Cryer knows how to play in that environment. Texas has its dynamic duo of Max Abmas and Dylan Disu. Don’t forget about Chendell Walker. He’s coming on for Texas.

This has the potential to be an incredible game.

Cincinnati at West Virginia

How to Watch: 6 p.m., Wednesday, Big 12 Now on ESPN+

If the Bearcats are entertaining thoughts of getting to the NCAA Tournament, this is a must-win game. The Bearcats are a Top 100 NET team. West Virginia is not. This is the kind of game that, if the Bearcats lose, it could haunt them when it comes to selection Sunday.

West Virginia just got forward Jesse Edwards back. That’s good news. But how much can he play against Cincinnati? That’s a larger question. The Mountaineers need his height because Cincinnati has one of the most dangerous frontcourts in the conference. The Mountaineers learned just how hard it is to deal with that kind of height against UCF. Cincinnati is built the same way.

Houston at Kansas

How to Watch: Saturday, 3 p.m., ESPN

Here we go. Houston finally faces Kansas, with the first of two meetings on the road. The Cougars could enter this game on a high after beating Texas on the road. Or, they could be looking to avoid an 0-2 week. The Cougars have quickly found out just how hard the road is in the Big 12.

As for Kansas, the Jayhawks enter the week off to their worst start in league play under Bill Self (4-3). The Jayhawks get a chance to get right against Oklahoma State at mid-week. But this game may tell us a lot about where Kansas could go this season. It’s hard to think of a ‘litmus test’ game quite like this for Kansas in the Big 12 in the past few seasons.
