Kansas State Rises to No. 2 in Latest Women’s AP Poll

The Big 12 saw four teams make the AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Top 25, released on Monday after Week 12 of the season and the first seven games of conference play.

Those teams included:

Kansas State at No. 2 (No. 4 last week);

 

Texas at No. 12 (No. 10 last week);

Baylor at No. 13 (No. 13 last week);

West Virginia at No. 23 (No. 24 last week);

Kansas State (20-1, 9-0) won both of its games last week without center Ayoka Lee, beating Baylor on the road, 58-55, and BYU at home, 67-65. This coming week only gets more difficult, as Kansas travels to Oklahoma on Wednesday and Texas on Sunday.  

Texas (19-3, 6-3) split for the week, as the Longhorns lost to Oklahoma, 91-87, and beat Cincinnati, 67-50. The Longhorns are at Baylor on Thursday and  host Kansas State on Sunday.

Baylor (15-3, 4-3) split for the week, as the Bears fell to Kansas State, 58-55, and beat Oklahoma State, 72-60. The Bears host Texas on Thursday and travel to Houston on Sunday.

 

West Virginia (17-2, 6-2) had a mid-week bye and defeated Iowa State, 84-78. The Mountaineers host UCF on Tuesday and travel to BYU on Saturday.
